Go Ape is located in Cannock Chase, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty boasting picturesque woodland, public green spaces, cycling tracks, walking routes and horse trekking. Drayton Manor Theme Park is approximately a 10-minute drive from home, offering a number of rides and attractions, bars, restaurants and a 15-acre zoo. The theme park is also home to Thomas Land, a Thomas the Tank Engine themed adventure park with rides to appeal to younger children. History enthusiasts will enjoy a trip to the town’s Norman Motte and Bailey Castle, not to mention the award-winning, 900-year-old Tamworth Castle. Visitors are encouraged to take a walk through the beautiful Castle Pleasure Grounds, and admire the breath-taking Queens Jubilee Garden, which is saturated with beautiful roses. Those visiting the town centre may also wish to take a stroll around St Editha’s Church and discover over 12-hundred years of fascinating history. Entertainment on rainy days can be found at Tamworth’s very own state-of-the-art multiplex cinema, or the increasingly popular Nanco Funscape centre, offering 10-pin bowling, arcade games, and an American diner. SnowDome leisure centre is a unique indoor attraction just over two miles from Oaklands, which promises the ultimate ‘real snow’ experience, with skiing, snowboarding, ice-skating, a swimming pool and gym, as well as a designated children’s snow play area. Birmingham is just over half an hour from Oaklands by car, and provides a thrilling city experience, with notable venues such as the Hippodrome, Jewellery Quarter and the NEC arena, as well as the award-winning Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery. Retail opportunities are endless, and shoppers can spend a whole day at the Bullring Shopping Centre, perhaps recharging at one of the cities five Michelin-starred restaurants.

Families with children will be well-placed to take advantage of the popular local schools within the close surrounding area. For very young children and toddlers, Ashcroft Infants and Nursery School is a short 10-minute walk from the development. Some options for under 11’s, are St. Leonard’s C of E Primary School, within walking distance of Oaklands, as well as Flaxhill Junior Academy and St. Elizabeth Catholic Primary School, both just over one mile from home. Young adults interested in further education, may consider the prestigious University of Birmingham, around a 40-minute drive from Oaklands.

Tamworth town centre is conveniently close, approximately a five-minute drive from the development (via the A513 and Ashby Road/B5493), while Birmingham city centre is around a 30-minute drive away. Commuters will benefit from good local road connections, including ease of access to the M5, M6 and M42, all less than a fifteen minute drive from Oaklands. Tamworth railway station is less than five minutes from Oaklands (via Ashby Road), and offers regular services to major cities including Birmingham, London, Nottingham, Cardiff and Glasgow. International travel can be sought from East Midlands Airport, 25 minutes from the development, or Birmingham Airport, just over half an hour’s drive from the development.
