St Mary’s View is located close to the Georgian town of Blandford in North Dorset, around 19 miles north west of Bournemouth and the coast. The development falls under the administration of Dorset Council.

The local area is home to a plethora of independent shops and boutiques set in beautiful surroundings. Found close to the historic marketplace and in side streets and alleys off Barnack Walk, Hardys Yard, and Tabernacle Walk, these stores provide outstanding products and services to local clients.

Mainstream shopping is also close at hand, with well-known stores found in the town centre on West Street, East Street, and Salisbury Street. These shops provide groceries, clothes, essentials, and more, while regular markets offer unique items to customers. These meetings include a regular indoor market, a popular craft market, and Designed in Dorset, a market dedicated to makers and producers from the local area.

Lovers of the outdoors are blessed in the area close to St Mary’s View, with the River Stour located close to the development. As well as being a great base for picnics, the area also features local wildlife, including otters, and a plethora of walking and cycling routes close to the waterside.

Hambledon Hill is also nearby, and this National Nature Reserve features Hod Hill, an ancient Iron Age fort that formerly protected more than 200 houses. Further history can be discovered at Badbury Rings between Blandford Forum and Wimborne Minster. This site, dating from around 800BC is another former Iron Age fort, and it now features a popular walking route designed by the National Trust.

Indoors, tours are available at the Hall and Woodhouse Brewery and The Royal Signals Museum. Both show off the area’s vast history, with the latter offering an insight into how military communication developed over hundreds of years.

The development is just a 12-minute walk from St Mary’s Primary School. This schools caters for children up to Key Stage 2 and prepares them for further studies at secondary school. Further schooling is available in the local area, with provision from pre-school to further education.

The closest universities to St Mary’s View are in Bournemouth, with Arts University Bournemouth and Bournemouth University both around 20 miles away. The Royal Veterinary College is found close to Dorchester and other higher education options include Poole University and Southampton Solent further afield.

St Mary’s View sits close to the A354, a road which leads to key locations, including Salisbury to the north east, Southampton to the south east via the A36, and Dorchester to the south west via the A35. The closest mainline train stations to the development are Hamworthy, around 9 miles away, and Poole, just over 11 miles away. Regular trains to Dorchester and other locations run from these stations, with daytime services running hourly.
