Chestnut Grove

Chesnut Grove is found in Ash Green, three miles from Aldershot in Surrey and just over 40 miles from Central London.

The development lies within the administrative boundaries of Warwickshire County Council.

There are several small supermarkets and convenience stores within walking distance of the development, and Aldershot town centre, 10 minutes’ drive away, is home to a variety of high-street stores and independent retailers. The town also has a popular twice-weekly market selling a range of fresh produce, fashion and housewares.

Slightly further afield, the market town of Farnham (around 15 minutes away by car) with its historic buildings and castle is a popular shopping destination, boasting specialist retailers in addition to well-known names and a monthly farmers’ market. Guildford, also 15 minutes’ drive away, offers a wealth of retail therapy across its shopping districts – The Friary Centre, White Lion Walk, Tunsgate Square and High Street – with designer boutiques, luxury goods, antique dealers and independent artisans, as well as department and chain stores. The heart of the town also offers a good selection of restaurants, wine bars, traditional pubs and cafés to revive and reenergise weary shoppers.

Chestnut Grove is situated in the beautiful Surrey countryside so residents can experience everything rural life has to offer – running, cycling, hiking, horse riding, or even just getting outdoors and enjoying the fresh air.

Sports facilities nearby include Ash Manor sports centre, five minutes’ drive away and Alderwood Leisure Centre, 10 minutes’ drive away – both have a gym, fitness studio, sports courts and football pitches. For something different, why not try the Alpine Snowsports Centre in Aldershot – it has three dry ski slopes and offers snowboarding, as well as skiing lessons to adults and children. The town also has two swimming pools at Aldershot Pools & Fitness Centre and an outdoor pool with water flumes at Aldershot Lido, which is open every summer. Both are located on Guildford Road, less than three miles from the development.

Children’s play areas can be found in the Municipal Gardens and in Manor Park, both in the town centre. The latter is Aldershot’s main public park and the venue for many town events, including funfairs and the annual fireworks spectacular. It also features tennis and basketball courts, a skate park, pond and memorial gardens.

Cultural highlights include the West End Centre and Princes Hall, which both host live music, comedy, drama and creative workshops, as well as regular art exhibitions. Multiplex cinemas in the town centre, in Farnborough and in Guildford screen the latest blockbuster movies, family favourites and classic films.

Aldershot is known as the home of the British army and Aldershot Military Museum charts its history and the history of the surrounding area, with a wealth of exhibitions, activities, hands-on displays and community projects.

There are a number of high performing schools in the local area that cater for children of all ages. For younger children these include Ash Grange Nursery and Primary School, around 15 minutes’ walk from the development and Shawfield Primary School five minutes’ drive away. Secondary schools, for pupils aged 11 – 18 include Ash Manor School and Alderwood School, around five minutes and 10 minutes away by car, respectively.

Apprenticeships, further and higher education courses are offered by Farnborough College of Technology, six miles away, while the University of Surrey is located in Guildford, and the University for the Creative Arts is located in Farnham, both around seven miles away.

Ash train station is less than a mile from Chestnut Grove and from there regular services operate to Guildford, Farnham, Reading, Wokingham, Reigate and Gatwick Airport. Ash Vale and Aldershot stations are both around three miles away and services from both stop at Woking, Clapham Junction and London Waterloo.

The development is well located for accessing important road links, such as the A31 for Guildford, Farnham, Winchester, the New Forest and Dorset, the M3 for Basingstoke, Winchester and Southampton, the A3 for Guildford, London and Portsmouth, and the M25 London Orbital Motorway. Local buses also connect the development with surrounding towns and villages.

Heathrow Airport is 30 minutes’ drive away via the M3 and Gatwick Airport is 50 minutes’ drive away via the A3 and the M25.
